Looks like it was voted down in the new House with the objective to take away all EPA ability to regulate green house gases. So much for BACT, much less LAER. Lowest Achievable Emissions Rate.
This means we will not be looking to acquire any old energy designs any time soon. FORGET IT. Those old energy plants will just keep on running as they always have. At least until a Veto or the Senate goes to bat. NO WAY YOU BASE A BUSINESS MODEL ON THIS POLITICAL FOOTBALL. If people don’t care where their power and fuel comes from, the low cost provider WINS.
FAR BETTER TO BUILD NEW NOW with LAER & the objective of being the low cost Green provider.
SOME IN THIS COUNTRY MAY START TO CARE.

Advanced Biofuels should be ramped up to replace M.E. Imports as conservation also improves. BTL, or GTL, the future numbers must exceed current projected increases. This sustainable fuels effort would utilize feedstocks that are not food crop oriented. These fuels would support sustainable forest objectives. These biofuels should be in the black on their own merit without subsidies. These biofuels feedstocks would be no till & organic. This is only possible as permaculture integration becomes the norm.
Most have simply missed this important aspect.
This is a long term effort that will require a national scope as it is proven on a regional level. Sustainable Distribution models will begin to produce meaningful advantages as they are designed and developed.
Important algae research should be supported and valued.
Interesting observations from a VC perspective…

As the Strategic Integration Officer is added to our energy solutions consulting div., we look forward to offering those services to select VCs & COs who have exhibited an understanding of the merits of sustainable energy integration.
From our viewpoint, KA, is well suited for this complex, science based, role. This shown, in large part, by past efforts with the same type national integration scope.
As we touch base over the coming months, she will be the person recommended to assist your sustainable integrated energy science efforts.

All consulting services are offered to first choice potential working partners only.

The Oil and Gas Regulation that never should have been changed
Posted by 2011wd in Economic Policy, Energy Conservation is JOB 1, Energy Policy on May 29, 2010
There are reasons for most regulations. Protections, oversights, safe guards, all designed to keep the worst from taking place.
This one oil and gas regulation is extremely important and somehow it managed to get changed. Sad but true. No doubt the very first regulation that must be put back on the rule books.

All to save $500K per B.O.P. Should Minerals Management Service (MMS), changed this before now? Of course they should have and everyone in that department should know that by now. EVERYONE.

http://bit.ly/bcaCIu Others have another name for the company. Green washing can backfire when you’re not real careful.
http://bit.ly/cXmRpa Energy companies will care about going green soon enough. They will have no choice. In the meantime they will need to be far more careful in the future. A $200M PR effort is nothing more than a total waste of money. They are fooling no one. This does not mean they can’t advance in alternative energy solutions. In fact now they have far more reason to do so. Perhaps best done under new leadership.
